Fantastic Favours

wedding favors Giving your guests wedding favours is a tradition that will never die, but you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on these little trinkets. You want to bestow a lasting impression with breaking your budget. Do your homework by looking through magazines, checking out websites and window shopping at shops in your area. Make a list of ideas that you have and work on it until you find the perfect favour for your wedding.

Personalizing your favours is a great way to make them stand out. The best way to do this is with your names and the wedding date! You can get a rubber stamp made or go for some elegant calligraphy, and everything in between. Think of cute little fridge magnets with a pic of the two of you or homemade jam in little jars with labels of your information (and the type of jam!). Even store bought favours can get that extra touch with personalized ribbon or labels.

Don’t forget about the wrapping. You can have a beautiful favour and if the wrapping isn’t up to par, the whole thing falls flat. With all of the options out there today, the only limitations are the ones in your mind! Simple ribbon boxes and cellophane bags make great accents, especially if you want to show off what’s inside. A hand-painted ceramic pot (with your personal info of course!) with tiny flowers makes a great package for your guests to take home and display. A word of caution: make sure your favours aren’t super “matchy”. You don’t want them to get lost in the décor of your wedding. And don’t forget to play with texture!

Some ideas for favours:

  • Jordan Almonds – very classic and wrapped properly, these look very chic
  • Tea – a huge trend right now, try giving your guests a blend of your favourite tastes
  • Customized bottles – you can find little bottles at any dollar store. Fill with bubble bath, liqueur or flavoured olive oil as a personal treat. Tie off with a ribbon that complements your wedding décor
  • Chocolate – a lot of specialty favour and sweet shops can make personalized chocolates for your wedding. Find a fantastic box and voila! Sweet favours for everyone
